Healing Sexual Imbalances in the Body: A Holistic Approach

Sexual imbalances can profoundly impact our overall well-being, affecting not just our intimate relationships but also our emotional and physical health. Fortunately, there are several holistic approaches that can help restore balance and promote healing.

When you’re laying in bed with your loved one, and you’re passionately desiring him/her there are methods you can do to go within when the timing isn’t right to make love to your partner. Instead of projecting a desperate need, obsessive thoughts,or even feelings of inadequacy, force or control or anger at your loved one that they do not wish to engage sexually with you, you can instead love yourself. You can witness your body in these moments, and let yourself feel how you feel, and drop deeper into those feelings by your breath, and your energy.

You can surrender to other types of connection like laying next to each other without any touch, or touch like reiki and massage or hugging. This can begin to build trust with your relationship. It can help your partner feel safe in his/her own experience and feel seen that they do not need or wish to be sexual in a moment. When your partner is honored for their process, you are then honoring your own.

It takes a deep connection of trust, safety and love to feel supported by a partner that will hold the space he or she is in. It also takes a very mature adult man/woman to go inward and allow the partner to have his own process by being responsible for your own and allowing yourself to feel deeply into what you’re feeling. A lot of internal work is happening throughout this process. A lot of internal personal responsibility, self-reflection, deep breathing, patience, honoring, holding, acceptance and trust is also present here.

Practices one can do to assist in these moments are:

Deep mindfulness breathing

Deep Belly Breathing

Hugging Yourself

Self Reiki

And practices your partner can give to you when they need to keep their boundaries strong and to support you to go within are:

Reiki

Somatic Dialogue,

Cuddling

Massage

All can be powerful tools in addressing sexual imbalances and fostering a healthier connection with our bodies.

Practices one can do on the self to assist in these moments - going deeper into the practices:

Deep mindfulness breathing: This practice involves focusing your attention on your breath, observing each inhale and exhale without judgment. By doing so, you can anchor yourself in the present moment, reducing anxiety and creating space between your thoughts and reactions. This can be particularly helpful when dealing with intense sexual desires or frustrations. You may feel the desire in you, but with mindful breathing, you can pull the energy inward and use it to assist in releasing the source of the emotions.

Deep Belly Breathing: Also known as diaphragmatic breathing, this technique involves breathing deeply into your abdomen rather than shallowly into your chest. Place one hand on your belly and feel it rise with each inhale and fall with each exhale. This type of breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. It helps to bring awareness to the sexual energy in your body and use your breath to relax and move the energy in healthy supportive ways. Doing this for an extended period of time emotions start coming to the surface.

Hugging Yourself: Self-hugging is a powerful tool for self-soothing and self-love. Wrap your arms around yourself, gently rubbing your arms or sides. This physical act of self-comfort can release oxytocin, the "love hormone," helping to calm your nervous system and provide emotional support.

Self Reiki: Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. In self-Reiki, you can place your hands on different parts of your body, allowing healing energy to flow. This practice can help balance your energy, reduce tension, and promote a sense of wholeness and self-acceptance.

And practices your partner can give to you when they need to keep their boundaries strong and to support you to go within are:

Reiki: When performed by your partner, Reiki can be a deeply nurturing experience. Your partner can channel healing energy to you without the need for physical touch, respecting boundaries while still providing support and care. When the sexual energy is strong, and your partner wants to wait to engage sexually, he or she can give you reiki as a way to keep their boundaries intact in waiting, and assist you to breathe through your sexual tension, passion or frustration. This will force the person in sexual need to breathe through their sexual feelings as described above.

Somatic dialogue: This involves a gentle conversation between partners about bodily sensations and emotions. Your partner can guide you through a process of noticing and describing what you're feeling in your body, helping you to stay present and connected to yourself. If you feel frustrated, anger, disappointment or other feelings, talking through the feelings while breathing into the body and noticing what is there can assist to release the emotions underneath the sexual desire and eventually help to come back to stillness and calm.

Cuddling: Non-sexual physical affection can be incredibly soothing and connecting. Cuddling releases oxytocin, which can help reduce stress and promote bonding. It's a way to feel close and supported without the pressure of sexual activity. While one partner is feeling arousal, and the other wants to hold the energy in, the person in desire can feel the love they need while noticing the desire and again, move the desire energy down the legs, or out the heart and notice the tears as they start to emerge.

Massage: A non-sexual massage from your partner can help release physical tension and promote relaxation. It's a way of receiving caring touch that honors boundaries while still providing physical and emotional comfort. Receiving the touch from your partner can help relax the sexual frustration. This technique can be used to release the emotions the body is carrying underneath the sexual tension and help to process the feelings that are causing the charge, feeling overstimulated, frustrated, annoyed, angered, disappointed or other feelings to come back to the heart and feel love for the self again. This then allows an experience of both partners experiencing self-love, healing the emotions from feeling over driven, and the emotions from needing to rest, withdraw, hold back and pause.

All these practices can be powerful tools in addressing sexual imbalances and fostering a healthier connection with our bodies. They provide ways to honor both partners' needs and boundaries while still maintaining intimacy and connection. By incorporating these practices, couples can navigate sexual imbalances with greater understanding, patience, and mutual respect.

All of these practices can be an added support to heal from being sexual overdriven, or underdriven, and both partners can feel supported in the relationship, feel loved, seen, validated and important. And this can help your journey of healing from sexual imbalances, as well as heal your deep core soul!
